World of Lordcraft
World of Lordcraft is a browser-based online strategy game with high graphics. As a lord of the Alliance or the Horde, a player can lead his or her customized heroes to build your own kingdom and raise a colossal army to withstand the invasion started by the Demon Legion.
The Game History
Legend has it that long time ago Titans once came to this uncivilized continent. They use infinite power to bring this land order and life. One day after another, they created towering mountains, deep oceans, then the boundless skies. They tried to teach those primitive races all kinds of crafts and skills, and told them how to keep the balance of the world. When everything was settled, they created dragons to guard this world. Since then, titans vanished mystically…
Thousands of years later, no one knows where the noble dragons are. People only hear about them in the legend. Without the shelter of the dragon guardians, battles broke out among different races. Racial conflicts on territory were further intensified. The peaceful continent had been corrupted by wars and destruction. During the long period warfare, two outstanding factions had been formed and strengthened. The Alliance and the Horde——human and dwarf joined together to drive off trolls. The two former races also accepted the elves who had been oppressed by orcs for long. So the three races formed the Alliance. On the other side, under the help of taurens, orcs had successfully ravaged some territory from elves. After that, the isolated trolls joined the army of orcs and taurens. The three races built the Horde faction. Thus, the chaos on this continent finally developed into the conflict between the Alliance and the Horde.
Finally, the decisive battle between the Alliance and the Horde broke out in the center of the land. Both sides gathered the most elite armies, intending to settle the argument once and for all. When the battle turned white-hot, a great number of demons descended from another world. These demons had desired for the continent for a long time. The assault was launched just when the two factions were weak at both sides. Those exhausted soldiers were too astonished to face the Demon Legion, and they instinctively scattered and ran for life.
After that catastrophe, the center of the land was occupied by the Demon Legion, and they began to extend their territory from then on. What's worse is that demons had awakened the undead and signed a pact with nagas, which greatly enlarged the evil force. Now, the Alliance and the Horde are busy assembling the lost companions from all over the continent to rebuild their honor and glory.
This ancient land is once more under the shadow of warfare…
Factions
There are 2 selectable factions in World of Lordcraft. Each faction has 3 races. The 2 factions, the Alliance and the Horde are hostile to each other while they bear a mutual evil faction——the Demon Legion.
The Alliance is composed of 3 races: wise Humans, noble Elves and tough Dwarves. With the same target to protect their homelands, to fight against the Demon Legion's invasion and to rebuild the order of the world, these 3 races choose to stand together as the Alliance.
The Horde is composed of 3 races: brutal Orcs, cunning Trolls and mild Taurens. With the same target to protect their homelands, to fight against the Demon Legion's invasion and to rebuild the order of the world, these 3 races choose to stand together as the Horde.
Deeply attracted by the abundant resources of this continent, the Demon Legion descended from another world. These demons have awakened the vicious Undead and forced the greedy Nagas to join their army. Nevertheless, the Undead and Nagas are not absolutely loyal to the demons. They'd already drawn up their own plans.
Races
Alliance:
Human
Human is a common but resilient race. They build their kingdoms through continuous warfare, yet the peaceful time can never last for long. In order to fight against the invasion of the Demon Legion from another world, once more human pick up their weapons. And they will defend to death their home.
Elf
The Elves are the eldest breed on this continent. They have been living in a self-effacing way for thousands of years. But the invasion started by the Demon Legion has interrupted their peaceful life. The elves decided to join the Alliance at a terrible price finally, and fight side by side with human and dwarves.
Dwarf
Dwarves are stubborn and militant. They strictly follow their ancient religious doctrine. A dwarf always shows great loyalty to his friends. Every time the call to arms arises, they will defend their home and allies with unmatched courage and valor.
Horde:
Orc
The savage, green-skinned orcs are one of the most numerous races on this land. They are commonly believed to be brutal and warlike, regarding honor as their life. The invasion of demons has stimulated orcs' thirst for combat. They are positively looking for allies so as to dominate the whole land.
Troll
Trolls are also an ancient race on this continent. These cunning creatures are renowned for their witchery. However, with the expansion of the Alliance's territory, trolls are driven out of their own homelands where they have lived for thousands of years. Now they join the army of the Horde and swear to make those invaders pay back.
Tauren
The huge Tauren is a nomadic race which worships peace and nature. Mild taurens don't like to fight with other races. But with the invasion of the Demon Legion, Taurens, in order to survive from those upcoming wars, joined the Horde without hesitation. They will fight against the demon forces together with orcs and trolls.
Demon Legion:
Demon
These demons from another unknown world hold mighty power. Their incursion corrupts the whole land. However, their conspiracy could not go any further because of the sturdy resistance from the Alliance and the Horde. The Demon Legion is now occupying Blasted Lands and preparing for the next assault.
Undead
Demons awakened the sleeping undead by ancient dark spells. The undead show neither mercy nor compassion with other creatures. Their brains are controlled by evil spell and the last thing left on their mind is the thirst for killing and destroy. The presence of the undead became a great threat to all the races in this world.
Naga
Nagas are originally a member of elf race. However, due to the horrible desire for magic and spells, they sign a pact with the Demon Legion to gain powerful magic in return. Nagas abused those magic and in the end their bodies deformed. Now, they have become the slaves of the Demon Legion.
The World Map
The game world is consisted of 11 areas. You can choose 1 of 10 areas to start with(Blasted Lands can not be selected).
Twilight Forest
Twilight Forest is an extremely fertile land with vast green woods and limpid blue lakes. Humans migrated here so as to survive a great plague and escape from various disasters. After humans settled down here, they banished all the inimical races and built magnificent castles. Those castles not only symbolize human's power but also work as strong fortresses overseeing vicious enemies so the sheltered can temporarily lead a peaceful life. Thus human's civilization continues its glory and brilliance. And now, the Demon Legion has extended its tentacles to disturb this land and serenity is only a history now. It seems wars are unavoidable.
Moonglade
Moonglade seems to be covered by translucent violet drapes whenever moonlight shines upon it. And that's why elves call it Moonglade. When staring at the sky from here, you can find that moonlight penetrate the gaps among flourishing leaves. When a breeze blows through the trees, the shadows of the tree-eaves swing gently upon the violet moonlight. This glade is the homeland of elves. They have been living here peacefully for thousands of years. But after the Demon Legion came, elves could never lead a quiet life any longer. They took up moonblades and swear to protect every feet of their holy forests.
Coldridge Mountains
Coldridge Mountains are tightly wrapped with silvery thick snow. Due to innumerable years of freezing temperature, these mountains are always covered by thick snow. Travelers and adventurers are stopped by the chilling squalls and dangerous cliffs. One day, a group of dwarves came here. They overcame various difficulties with their strong will. And after that they built numerous tunnels and strongholds. Howling winds and thick snow became the natural barricade to stop the Demon Legion's invasion.
The Barrens
The Barrens for once was a dense forest with the diversity of plant and animal life. But the orcs intemperately cut trees down, and the result turned out that the environment of the grove was changed tremendously. With those plants withered, animals dying, this place is no longer flourishing. Due to a long-term shortage of water, the land surface is wrinkled. As time goes by, this place has nothing left but few tiny oases. It's so hard to imagine what it looked like before.
Stranglethorn Vale
Dangers lurk in Stranglethorn Vale all along. Weirdly-shaped tropical plants and furious beasts make the vale filled with crises. Travelers can easily get lost in this jungle. What's worse, the lost ones may never get out of this green maze. The weather within Stranglethorn Vale is also very peculiar. It's quite unbearable for human to stay in such a muggy place while the trolls regard it as their paradise. They often hide still in the jungle, peering at every prey quietly and bring them a death blow when they are helpless and weak.
Boundless Prairie
It's not easy to tread through the Boundless Prairie with your own feet. It seems that the old vast grassland reaches to the edge of the sky in all direction. Countless azure lakes are scattered over this beautiful land and gentle brooks link these lakes together. Many kinds of totems are planted hither and thither by taurens, reflecting marvelous tints under golden sunshine. The mild and friendly taurens live here from age to age. They worship and respect the nature. However, when this land is faced with evil and danger, taurens are also irreplaceable fearless warriors. They will fight for their noble faith and beautiful homeland.
Swamp of Sorrows
This uncivilized swamp is pervaded with thick fog and misty haze through the year. Grown for thousands of years, overflowing trees and bushes deprive it of light. The dark and damp marsh is full of lethal menace. Local creatures of the swamp can be the most horrible nightmare for any adventurer. Countless skeletons and bones are buried beneath the dense bushes. And those restless sighing spirits keep wandering within the Swamp of Sorrows.
Forsaken Lands
This place once belonged to the territory of human. Somehow, it had been ravaged by a outrageous plague long ago. After that, this land was forsaken. One by one, those who survived the plague migrated to Twilight Forest. And now this place is suffused with leveled houses and the limbs and remains of dead creatures. Only ruins and nameless tombstones can tell that human lived here before. Demons have awakened those buried corpses and turned them into the undead army through ancient dark sorceries. Now Forsaken Lands are completely ruled by the Demon Legion. The prosperous days of this place are long gone.
Blasted Lands
The Blasted Lands used to be the center of the whole continent. The outbreak of the great battle between the Alliance and the Horde just happened here, where the demons from another world also commenced their invasion. Now, the Blasted Lands are under the control of demons. Wild flames gush from the cracks of the surface and the original fertile lands became disgusting scorched dirt. Strong and stinky smoke pervades the air. These lands are full of the craters caused by previous wars and the green blood of demons. The place was obviously cursed by demons. Anyone might get killed if he or she dare step onto the Blasted Lands.
Dragonblight
This enormous moorland, dotted by giant shinning dragon bones, lies in the arms of magnificent mountains. Majestic but lonely ruins were buried under mountains of varied shapes. Legend has it that here was the home of the guardians: dragons. However, until today no one has witnessed the real appearance of them. When the Demon Legion descended, they did not show themselves to protect other creatures. People begin to doubt guardians' existence. Only those giant bones can silently uphold the legend.
Searing Desert
The Searing Desert is grilled by blistering sunlight and overridden by ruthless sandstorms through the year. Scalding sunbeams cut the desert like razors. Those infrequent plants and lakes live like a candle in the wind. Day by day sandstorms build firm dunes of different sizes in the desert. Some even look like cloud-kissing towers. Ruins can be indistinctly seen from certain dunes. It tells there used to be civilization here.
